Wired Manager: Managing Telecommuting and Remote Workers
Wired Manager: Managing Telecommuting and Remote Workers

    Presenter: Tamara K. Strickland
    Available on Demand

Managers of the future will require the skills and expertise to manage, develop, and evaluate employees working 24/7/365 from any location to include their homes, planes, hotel rooms or their favorite wired coffee shop. Remote working arrangements contribute to an organization’s bottom line by improving productivity, morale and retention while reducing absenteeism and savings on the cost of office space.

Wired Manager: Managing Telecommuting and Remote WorkersMore Details

Discover the secrets to managing tangible results and no longer equating an employee’s “hours in the office” to successful performance.

Answer the first question that most managers have when moving from a traditional office environment: “How do I know that my employees are putting in the hours and being productive?”
Learn the advantages to the employer and employee of the new virtual workplace
Learn about the essential technology to power the virtual workplace.
Become skilled at the non-technical aspects of developing a successful Wired Team
Develop the policies and procedures necessary to ensure your remote work arrangements are properly supported
Create a “telework” orientation program for new virtual managers and employees

Without trained managers a teleworking arrangement can become a “virtual disaster” – and the organization loses valued employees and bottom line results.

    What You Will Learn
In this interactive session, you will learn:

    1. The knowledge and skills necessary to become a Wired Manager
    2. How to manage by results rather than time in the office. Why you should let go of the old school thought that extra hours in the office equates to actual performance.
    3. Building an effective virtual team. How do the management issues for a virtual team differ from those for an on-site team?
    4. Taking accountability for telework success within your team and your organization –the telework program will only be as successful as the managers.
    5. Training and supporting your team – Wired Managers know how to develop successful Wired Employees.
    6. Overcoming the greatest fear for most new telework managers. “I now see empty space where there was once a large staff. What if the organization no longer sees my value as a manager?”

    Who Should Participate?
    * Any manager that is currently considering, developing, implementing or supporting a telework option within their organization should attend.

*Human Resource managers developing employment or compensation policies related to telework, telecommuting, or virtual workers.
